ABC have revealed the next man to be handing out roses on their hit reality-dating show, The Bachelor and it’s a bit of a blast from the past as Arie Luyendyk will be the next Bachelor!

The announcement was made this morning on Good Morning America.

Arie appeared on Emily Maynard’s season of The Bachelorette back in 2012 and even made it down to the final two, but she went on to choose Jef Holm.

Believe it or not, Arie as The Bachelor nearly happened a few years ago.

Back in 2015, former Bachelor Sean Lowe told Dish Nation that Arie was set to become the man dishing out roses before they ultimately chose Chris Soules.

He said, “They actually told Arie he was gonna be the Bachelor…They flew down, had a camera crew, filmed him telling his family he was gonna be the next Bachelor – then pulled the rug out from underneath him and made Chris the Bachelor.”

Last year, Arie confirmed Sean’s story to US Weekly by comparing his situation to Luke Pell’s who was reportedly “agreed to the contracts” [ to be come The Bachelor] before producers went with Nick Viall.

Arie said, “I mean, [my situation was] almost word for word on that article…Same exact deal. I just knew two days prior, but same deal: suit fittings; contracts that I signed, but they were delayed on signings on their end; booked flights. Maybe this is a common practice now to throw off fans — I don’t know.”

Well, looked like it all worked out!

Expect Arie’s season of The Bachelor to kick off sometime in 2018!
