Navigating the intricacies of romantic relationships, whether in the exhilarating early stages of dating or within the comforting bond of marriage, can sometimes encounter unexpected hurdles. These hurdles, often referred to as “icks,” encompass a spectrum of behaviours or characteristics that may trigger discomfort or aversion in either partner.

A recent survey of 2,000 men and women ask about their “icks.”

52% of women said bad hygiene put them off, and 37% were unimpressed by arrogance. Women also said bad breath, spitting, and being rude to hospitality staff gave them the dreaded “ick.”

43% of men also cited bad hygiene as “icky.” 16% don’t like crude jokes, and 14% don’t appreciate a baby voice.
