The cast of the upcoming film adaptation of the book “Argylle” has addressed the swirling rumours suggesting that Taylor Swift may have secretly penned the novel under a pseudonym. Leading lady Bryce Dallas Howard acknowledged the creativity of Swift’s fans, known as Swifties, stating, “And I think in many ways, [the Swifties are] certainly not wrong about the inspiration of Taylor.” Henry Cavill, who plays the film’s titular character, added, “It’s unconsciously inspired by Taylor Swift.”

Despite the speculation, director Matthew Vaughn firmly dismissed the Taylor Swift theory, noting that it came to his attention through his daughter, who wanted an introduction to Swift. Vaughn stated, “It is not true,” but acknowledged the existence of “a strange amount of odd connections” between “Argylle” and the Grammy-winning singer. The spy flick, set to release on Feb. 2, is inspired by Elly Conway’s debut novel, and the mystery surrounding the author has fueled fans’ curiosity and speculations.
