The Weeknd looks to Britney Spears for inspiration on his upcoming album.

According to the description on a recent episode of his Apple Music 1 radio show Memento Mori, it says, “The Weeknd played a mix of music that showcases tracks inspiring the new Dawn era,” and two of those songs belong to Britney Spears – Toxic and Everytime.  Both songs are off of Britney’s album, In the Zone (2003).

The Weeknd also played two songs by Nas, Star Wars and Thief’s Theme, along with songs by Kid Cudi, Kanye West, Tyler, the Creator and Swedish House Mafia.

On the same Memento Mori episode, Abel gives his fans an album update, “Album is pretty much done.  Just doing some final tweaks, some mixing notes, additional vocals.”

The Weeknd also dropped an extended version of ‘Take My Breath.’  The original ran for 3 minutes 40 seconds, whereas the extended version is five minutes 51 seconds.
