Check out this massive accomplishment, which was announced by Kpop Billboard, “‘Dynamite’ by BTS is the first song by an Asian act in 57 years to ear a No.1 spot on Billboard Hot 100 since Japanese singer Kyu Sakamoto in 1963 with a song, ‘Sukiyaki.’  It is also the only song by an Asian act to debut straight at No.1 on the chart.”

Both The Weeknd and the Jonas Brothers sent their congratulations via Twitter – see their tweets below.

BTS even received a shootout from Moon Jae-in, president of the Republic of Korea.  Moon writes,  “BTS has achieved its first No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 songs chart, writing a new chapter in K-pop history as the first Korean band to do so.  After having topped the Billboard 200 main album chart four times, they have no reached No.1 on both charts.”

In addition their No.1 success, BTS have teamed up with South Korean based Hyundai, and released a new music video for ‘IONIQ: I’m On It.’  Part of the record is used for Hyundai’s new EV brand, IONIQ.  In a statement, BTS says, “We had a lot of fun filming this video.  It’s been a while since a music video style ad has come out like this. It didn’t feel like a commercial shoot. It felt like an actual music video shoot.  Change always starts small at first, but we feel things are really starting to change with eco-friendly technology.  [We] think we’ll look back and realise IONIQ was one of the starting steps.  What we love is this idea that if you work harder and harder, it’s possible to see and create new opportunities and rewards for the future.”  Check out their video below.
