With everything that’s been happening surrounding the COVID-19 pandemic, both the song and its lyrics are a perfect fit.  ‘Be Kind’ is Halsey and Marshmello’s first collaboration together, following her third studio album, Manic, which was released more than three months ago.

In addition to ‘Be Kind,’ Halsey recently took part in the ‘Jersey 4 Jersey Benefit Concert’ which, according to NME, “It featured remote livestream performances to help raise money for Jersey residents affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.”   As of recently, Halsey drew a design for her ‘favourite cold brew company,’ High Brew Coffee.’  As Halsey explains on her Instagram post, “A portion of the proceeds go to Feeding America and they are donating 25k cases to hospitals and health care workers.”

Halsey also teamed up with ‘Orange International Inc., where 100,000 face masks were donated to four medical facilities, located in California.  In an Instagram post, Halsey writes, “Every single day I am in awe of the medical workers on the frontlines. Their determination, selflessness and empathy is the single greatest example of our capacity to love and survive as humans. I am beyond privileged to be self isolating in my home, without the fear and obligation of essential work employment. Without a sick family member to care for. A child to feed. A financial crisis to navigate. So I tried to find a real way to make a difference.  Please continue to stay home, if you can. If you are on the frontlines, my heart is with you. And I will be continuing the fight to help you get the support and resources you need.”

Every single day I am in awe of the medical workers on the frontlines. I have acquired and purchased 100,000 FDA certified 3 ply masks (with the help of Orange International Inc who sourced the masks for me from a factory in Guangzhou, China) These masks will be distributed to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, Providence Saint Joseph, LAC+USC Medical Center, and Martin Luther King Jr. Community Hospital; for the medical professionals and non medical hospital staff who are working to put a stop to this pandemic and help millions of strangers they will never meet. Please continue to stay home, if you can. If you are on the frontlines, my heart is with you. And I will be continuing the fight to help you get the support and resources you need. I am eager to redirect you to @givedirectly – A non-profit that allows you a way to give direct cash payments to vulnerable households in at risk communities, most of whom are single mothers. I will be making a sizeable donation, and encourage you to help in any way that you can. Special thanks to @anthonytomasli and the Li family, @jasonaron, PS Business Management, @fedex, and all the contacts at the hospitals who made this possible.

Check out the lyrics to ‘Be Kind’ below.

[Verse 1: Halsey]
Wanna believe, wanna believe
That you don’t have bad bone in your body
But the bruises on?your?ego make you?go
Wild wild wild ya
Wanna believe, wanna?believe
That even when you’re stone-cold you’re sorry
Tell me why you gotta be so out of you mind

[Pre-Chorus: Halsey]
I know you’re chokin’ on your fears
Already told you I’m right here
I will stay by your side every night

[Chorus: Halsey]
I don’t know why you hide from the one
And close your eyes to the one
Mess up and lie to the one that you love
When you know you can cry
To the one, always confide
In the one, you can be kind too
The one that you love
I…

[Verse 2: Halsey]
I know you need, I know you need
The upper hand when we on fighting
‘Cause in the past you have to prepare every sign
Don’t wanna leave, don’t wanna leave
But if you’re gonna fight back here before me
I know you built the broken loves
But just try

[Pre-Chorus: Halsey]
[Chorus: Halsey]

[Bridge: Halsey]
And I know it’s hard for you, but it’s not fair
Going sick in the edge, trying to get you there
And I know it’s hard for you, but it’s not fair
It’s not fair, it’s not fair

[Chorus: Halsey]
