It’s been nothing but a very successful year for Ed Sheeran (minus the 2018 Grammy nominations, Ed is only nominated for two Grammys – Best Pop Vocal Album and Best Pop Solo Performance), and now Ed has been crowned by Spotify as the most streamed artist of 2017!

Thank you Spotify, what a year x

It was announced that Ed not only tops the 2017 list with at least 6.3 billion streams, but he also has Spotify’s biggest album of the year with Divide, which was streamed 3.1 billion times, and ‘Shape of You’ was streamed 1.4 billion times.

Unfortunately, no female artists were part of the Top 5 most streamed ‘acts’ for 2017, as Ed is followed by Drake, who was crowned in 2015 and 2016 as the most streamed artist. The Weeknd, Kendrick Lamar and The Chainsmokers round out the Top 5.

In terms of most streamed female performers … Rihanna takes the lead followed by Taylor Swift and Selena Gomez.

The most streamed song? Luis Fonsi and Daddy Yankee with ‘Despacito Remix’ featuring Justin Bieber.
