Co-creator Ryan Murphy reveals the upcoming season 7 of American Horror Story will be based on the 2016 US Presidential Election.

While season 7 is yet to be titled, Murphy was very quick to spill the beans surrounding it’s plot. Murphy said,

“The season that we begin shooting in June is going to be about the election that we just went through. So I think that will be interesting for a lot of people.”

Fresh off the election (well, sorta) how does he plan to execute an entire season based on the event many are still coming to terms with? Just because he says it’s “based on” the election it doesn’t mean it’ll be a carbon copy of actual events… they’ll have to turn up the sex, horror and gore a little bit, right?

Series regulars Sarah Paulson and Evan Peters are rarin’ to go with season 7 but that’s all we know concerning the cast so far. Once adopted into the American Horror Story family, actors typically stick around so it’s highly possible we’ll see people like Kathy Bates, Cheyenne Jackson, Angela Bassett and more return.

Could season 7 be another split-themed, cross over type seaon? It’s possible. Last year Murphy hinted they “will be going back to some Freak Show characters” exploring “deeper histories and mythologies”. In November, the official AHS twitter account posted this teaser:
