The next chapter in the Sons of Anarchy saga, Mayans MC, will be led by Kurt Sutter and Elgin James; James has written the pilot episode and Sutter will produce the spin-off.

Sutter created the popular FX television series that ran from September 2008 to December 2014 and starred Charlie Hunnam (‘Jax’), Katey Sagal (‘Gemma’), Kim Coates (‘Tig) and Mark Boone Jr (‘Bobby Elvis’).

Now, fans of Sons of Anarchy will know that the spin-off had been talked about for a while now, but it wasn’t until this morning that FX green lit the series and announced the order of a pilot for Mayans MC (read the full press release HERE).

The spin-off will focus on the Mayans motorcycle club- an integral part to the Sons of Anarchy series.

According to the press release, “Mayans” will follow Ez Reyes, a “prospect” — potential member — for the club’s charter on the California-Mexico border. Ez will struggle with his desire for vengeance against the local cartel and his need for the women in his life to respect him”

No other casting information has been given about Mayans MC but we do know that production will begin in March.
