Ed Sheeran is taking some well earned time away from the spotlight following the 2014 release of “x” (multiply).

Sheeran has made good on his promise to travel during this hiatus. He has also managed to find the time to sneak in one performance for the East Anglian Children’s Hospices gala.

Sheeran told the audience about his time off and his recent knighting incident with Princess Beatrice (accidentally grazed by the sword resulting in a cut on his cheek).

“It’s nice to be back. I’ve had a whole year off. I went to Japan for about a month. Hung out with Japanese people…got my face cut open, anyone read about that? … This is the first time I’ve done a show in a year, so please bear with me.”

His forty minute acoustic set included “Thinking Out Loud” and “I See Fire.” The proceeds from the charity gala will help build a new hospice site offering a hydrotherapy pool, music studio and extensive outdoor space.

This may be Sheeran’s only stage performance of 2016, but we can all agree this was for a pretty great cause. Ok. Back to globetrotting!
