Happy 20th birthday, Ella Yelich-O’Connor aka “Lorde”.

lorde, pure heroin

The singer offered up some candid thoughts about life out of the spotlight, the meaning behind Pure Heroin and what to expect from her next album (and when) via Facebook: (contains explicit language)

The New Zealand sensation has sold over 27 million records worldwide and has thoroughly enjoyed her time away from the spotlight following the 2013 release of the wildly successful Pure Heroin LP.

“I made a very deliberate choice to withdraw for a little while from a public life. I haven’t had my hair or makeup done in a year, the free handbags dried up LONG ago, and the paparazzi at the airport are almost always for someone else.

No release dates. No lyrics. No album art.

Rest assured, we will keep you posted! One small question though: How does one possibly follow a debut release like Pure Heroin? Whatever comes next, it’s gotta be good!
