Selena Gomez is stepping away from the spotlight to treat anxiety and depression brought on by lupus. The 24 year old singer has been suffering anxiety, panic attacks and depression since being diagnosed with lupus last year.

What is lupus?

In simple terms: “Lupus is a chronic inflammatory disease that occurs when your body’s immune system attacks your own tissues and organs. Inflammation caused by lupus can affect many different body systems — including your joints, skin, kidneys, blood cells, brain, heart and lungs.” – via Mayo Clinic
