Selena Gomez is stepping away from the spotlight to treat anxiety and depression brought on by lupus. The 24 year old singer has been suffering anxiety, panic attacks and depression since being diagnosed with lupus last year.

What is lupus?

In simple terms: “Lupus is a chronic inflammatory disease that occurs when your body’s immune system attacks your own tissues and organs. Inflammation caused by lupus can affect many different body systems — including your joints, skin, kidneys, blood cells, brain, heart and lungs.” – via Mayo Clinic

This news comes on the heels of Gomez’s Revival Tour wrap (almost ** Selena had to cancer her two remaining dates). Time to take care of yourself Selena! We wish you all the best. <3

“I want to be proactive and focus on maintaining my health and happiness and have decided that the best way forward is to take some time off.”
