Scarlett Johansson Facing Backlash Over New Role

Johansson is no stranger to accepting controversial gigs. Last year, she was accused of ‘Hollywood whitewashing’ for accepting a role in the live action Ghost in the Shell movie, based on the hit manga series. In that flick, Johansson plays a robot – a role that many believe should have gone to a Japanese actor.

Fast forward to now, the actress is going to play *drum roll please* a transgender massage parlor owner. The story of Jean Marie Gill, born female, found success working in massage parlors ans engaging in sex work as a man. Johansson will play Dante “Tex” Gill in Rub & Tug – a role that, some argue, should have gone to a person who is actually trans.

Johansson has addressed the haters, saying:

“Tell them that they can be directed to Jeffrey Tambor, Jared Leto, and Felicity Huffman’s reps for comment.”

Gwen Stefani is Off Limits when it Comes to Miranda Lambert

After the country songstress divorced Blake Shelton in 2015 and released her new album 2016, she pretty much disappeared from the public eye. Typically, when an artist releases new music they want to do as many interviews and press events as possible to promote the heck out of it, right? This wasn’t Lambert’s idea of a good time as her ex had started something new with his Voice co-star, Stefani.

Lambert revealed that, during that time, she refused interviews until people actually listened to her album, The Weight of These Wings. When she agreed to finally give an interview, the first question asked was, “How do you feel about Gwen?” Lambert says she hung up, feeling defeated, “What was in the music was real, and I wanted people to get it from that. Take from it what they would. Then if I needed to talk, I would. But I haven’t really, until now.”

Nia Vardalos of ‘My Big Fat Greek Wedding’ Headed for Divorce

After 25 years of marriage, Nia Vardalos and Ian Gomez are calling it off. The former couple released a joint statement,

“We’ve been respectfully separated for a lengthy period of time. Our relationship became a friendship so the decision to end the marriage is completely mutual and amicable.”

Vardalos cited “irreconcilable differences” on the papers, submitted Tuesday. She is seeking joint legal and physical custody of their daughter, Ilaria.
