The Hollywood Foreign Press Association are all set to honour the best in film and television. Leading the nominations with seven: Guillermo del Toro’s The Shape of Water. It’s up for Best Drama in a stacked category. One that some are saying could earn director Christopher Nolan his first globe for Dunkirk. Rounding out the nominations in that category: Call Me By Your Name, The Post and Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri.

Greta Gerwig’s comedy Lady Bird is up for four awards including Best Picture alongside: The Disaster Artist, Get Out, The Greatest Showman and I, Tonya.

In television, Big Little Lies leads with six, receiving double nominations in two categories; Best Performance by an Actress in a Limites Series or Motion Picture Made for TV with Nicole Kidman and Reese Witherspoon receving the nods, meanwhile Laura Dern and Shailene Woodley are each nominated in the Best Performance by an Actress in a Supporting Role in a Series, Limited Series or Motion Picture Made for TV category.

The red carpet may look a little different this year with men and women wearing all black as a symbol of protest against harassment in Hollywood (and beyond). Celebrity stylist Ilaria Urbanati says “Because everyone keeps asking me… YES, the men WILL be standing in solidarity with women on this wearing-all-black movement to protest against gender inequality at this year’s Golden Globes. At least ALL MY GUYS will be.” Some of the ‘guys’ he’s referring to might be Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson, Tom Hiddleston, Gerrett Hedlung, Armie Hammer and more. He adds “Safe to say this may not be the right time to choose to be the odd man out here… just sayin…”

In a post Weinstein era, many actresses have rallied together to express their outrage and disdain for sexual harassment and inequality. I have a feeling there will be a lot of black gowns and suits on the red carpet this year.
