Hydro One is being sued – a class action lawsuit was launched today over a faulty billing system that started over two years ago

Bill Bennett from Gravenhurst received an envelope from Hydro One that contained around 40 REVISED bills over a FOUR YEAR PERIOD.

The “NEW” bills showed a 185% increase in the cost of his electricity.

The lawsuit says tens of thousands of customers stopped receiving bills, some received large catch-up bills and many had the money STRAIGHT UP TAKEN from their bank accounts

In many cases, customers were paying bills that QUOTE “didn’t reflect the electricity actually consumed.”

A report came out in May declaring that Hydro One DID IN FACT send faulty bills to 100,000 customers

Hyrdo One tried to cover up the mistakes and spent 88.3 million dollars trying to fix the problem.

Hydro One is owned by the province of Ontario and is the only game in town if you live in rural areas and, well, want electricity.

The suit is claiming damages for $125-million. Gotta wonder what other injustices might be unearthed here…
